Who we are

Clearmony (“Clearmony,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a household financial intelligence platform. We help households connect their financial accounts, understand their financial picture, and coordinate financial decisions. Our website is clearmony.com.

Information we collect

Information you provide directly

  • Account information: Name, email address, and password when you register.
  • Household information: Details about your household configuration and partner invitation if you use household features.
  • Financial account credentials: We use Plaid Technologies, Inc. (“Plaid”) to connect your financial accounts. We do not store your bank login credentials. Plaid collects and stores your credentials under their own privacy policy (plaid.com/legal).

Information we collect automatically through Plaid

When you connect a financial account, Plaid provides us with:

  • Account balances and account details
  • Transaction history
  • Account holder identity information (name, address) where you authorise it
  • Investment holdings and performance data

We access this information only to provide the Clearmony service to you. We do not sell it.

Usage information

  • Pages and features you access, actions you take, and time spent in the application.
  • Device type, browser type, IP address, and operating system.
  • Session identifiers and authentication tokens (stored server-side; never exposed to third parties).

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  1. Provide the service — generate your Financial Briefing, populate your Financial Inbox, and display your household’s financial state.
  2. Personalise your experience — tailor briefing content and inbox priorities to your household’s specific situation.
  3. Communicate with you — send account notifications, product updates, and service emails. You can opt out of non-essential communications at any time.
  4. Improve the product — analyse usage patterns (in aggregate and anonymised) to make Clearmony better.
  5. Comply with legal obligations — respond to lawful requests from regulatory and law enforcement authorities where required.

We do not:

  • Sell your personal or financial data to third parties.
  • Use your financial data to serve you advertisements.
  • Share your data with your financial institutions or employers.
  • Use your financial data to make credit decisions about you.

How we share your information

Advisors and professionals you authorise: If you use the Trusted Sharing feature to grant a financial advisor, CPA, or other professional access to your Clearmony data, they will see the information you explicitly grant them. You can revoke this access at any time from the Trust Center.

Service providers: We use a small number of third-party services to operate Clearmony:

  • Plaid — financial account connection and data retrieval
  • Render — cloud infrastructure and hosting
  • Sentry — error monitoring (anonymised error data only)
  • OpenTelemetry — performance monitoring (no personal data in traces)

Each service provider is bound by data processing agreements and may not use your data for their own purposes.

Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Clearmony, our users, or the public.

Business transfers: If Clearmony is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:

  • Your personal data is deleted within 30 days.
  • Financial transaction data retrieved via Plaid is deleted within 30 days.
  • Aggregated, anonymised usage statistics (which cannot identify you) may be retained indefinitely.

You can request deletion of your data at any time. See “Your rights” below.

Security

We take security seriously:

  • All data is encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.3).
  • Authentication tokens are stored server-side only and never exposed to client-side code.
  • Access to production data is restricted and audited.
  • We collect security and access evidence so households can see who had access and what changed.

That said, no system is perfectly secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Delete your account and associated data (subject to legal retention requirements).
  • Export your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent to optional data uses at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@clearmony.com. We will respond within 30 days.

California residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

EEA/UK residents (GDPR/UK GDPR): Our lawful basis for processing your financial data is contractual necessity (to provide the service you signed up for). For analytics, our lawful basis is legitimate interests. You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests.

Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to maintain your session. On the marketing site we also use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate page views and button clicks (for example Request access). Measurement ID is configured by Clearmony; event payloads do not include your name or email.

We do not use advertising cookies, ad retargeting, or Google Ads linking for Clearmony Marketing. You can limit analytics cookies in your browser settings. Disabling session cookies will prevent you from logging in.

Children

Clearmony is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

The Kids & Teens features in Clearmony are parent-controlled. A parent or guardian must create and control the account; minors do not create independent accounts.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our product evolves. We will notify you of material changes by email or by a prominent notice in the application at least 30 days before the change takes effect. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
